Nothing is worse than making a huge investment but then not having the resources to take care of it and watching your money go down the drain. Hair, and specifically hair extensions, is one of those big purchases that needs to be cared for. Hair extensions are an investment and definitely should be treated as such. How your care for your investment literally effects how long you get to enjoy them for. From the hair you buy, to the products, tools, and daily habits; what you do for your hair will determine how long your hair lasts, how beautiful your tresses look, and how luscious your strands feel.

Now the question of the day; how do I protect my hair extensions investment. I have several products, tips and tools I refer to as Bible.

First things first, I swear by professional products only. No ifs and or buts about it. You wouldn't use cheap wax on a Ferrari, don't use cheap crap on your hair. Quality beauty products generally have better and cleaner ingredients, are not diluted, and keep hair integrity. I use Iles formula shampoo, conditioner, mask, and serum on my hair. I trust the company. I love how nourishing the products are, as well as being amazing for all hair types and textures.

Next comes the tools. Not all dryers are created equal. Using a quality blow dryer to keep frizz down and not burn hair is important, and hot irons should be used on a lower temp (360° is plenty hot). Do not flat iron over hair that is wet or has dry shampoo in it!! That will burn your hair, and believe me, you don't want to be burning your hair (we have all seen that viral video right?).

That should do it right? Wrong. There are so many simple little things. It's not hard, but for some of you it may mean a lot of small changes. I'll list some more for you at the bottom, and even add a link to Habit Hair Extensions client care website for extra help.

And know if you want to be platinum blonde AND have extensions, you are going to be high maintenance... both in the dollar department and the time your appointments will take. Remember to trust your stylist and communicate all your concerns or questions. We truely want you to love your hair, I mean, that's why we are so obsessed!

Do:

-Invest in a silk pillowcase (your hair and skin will thank you)

-Brush your hair daily (I don't mean just the ends, separating your rows and brushing through the hair is a major win and makes move ups quicker and helps keep your hair lasting longer)

-Use a quality brush!! Tangle teaser and Wet Brush are my favorite brands for extensions!

-Braid your hair at night, when boating, snowboarding, running or really any activity that could cause your hair to tangle.

-Messy buns are a big NO

-Use a quality hair oil or serum in between washes when ends feel dry

Hope this helps! Thanks for treading along through all the deets!

Much love,

💕Ali
